Check Engine / Cam Tracking Delay

Diagnosis & fix steps

LOGIC: Intake Camshaft Position Slow Response (Bank 1). ACTION: Inspect the Bank 1 intake OCV. Verify oil passages are clear of debris; test camshaft advance response with an oscilloscope on the cam sensor while commanding advance via scan tool.

Red Seal field insights

Phaser Varnish: Sluggish oil displacement through the OCV delays phaser rotation, triggering slow response flags when the cam fails to hit target advance angles within time limits.
