Symptom

Loud Engine Knock / Rail Pressure Alarm

Diagnosis & fix steps

LOGIC: Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High (Open Ground). ACTION: Check continuity of the sensor ground circuit back to the Denso ECU. Measure signal pin voltage with key on, engine off (spec: 0.5V; an open ground causes a 5.0V reading).

Red Seal field insights

Sensor Bias: Loss of sensor ground pins the signal to 5V, tricking the ECU into reading maximum common rail pressure (~2,000 bar) and sharply cutting fuel delivery.
