Engine Hesitation / Hard Acceleration Cut

Diagnosis & fix steps

Inspect primary fuel filter and tank fuel pickup tubes for foreign debris or microbial sludge. Test transfer pump output pressure under full engine load using a pressure gauge.

Red Seal field insights

Low-Pressure Starvation: Common rail and unit-injector pumps require positive head pressure from the low-pressure gear/lift pump; pressure drops here cause fuel aeration, high-pressure pump cavitation, and sudden power cuts.
