System
Torque Converter
Symptom
TCC Slip Alarm / Elevated ATF Temps
Diagnosis & fix steps
LOGIC: Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) System Stuck Off / Slipping.
ACTION: Monitor TCC slip RPM on a live data scanner (must be 0–20 RPM when fully locked). Check line pressure and inspect the TCC control solenoid on the valve body. If command is 100% and pressure is verified, pull the transmission to replace the torque converter with worn internal lockup frictions.
Red Seal field insights
Friction Washout: Sustained heavy towing can slip the internal TCC clutch friction disc inside the converter shell, glazing the friction surfaces until mechanical lockup can no longer overcome fluid shear forces.
