Harsh Cold Shifts / Erratic Shift Points
Diagnosis & fix steps
LOGIC: Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) Sensor Range / Performance.
ACTION: Scan TFT live data during warm-up; check for static values (stuck at -40°C or jumping erratically). Drop the pan and replace the internal molded lead frame / harness assembly containing the integrated thermistor.
Red Seal field insights
Lead Frame Thermistor Drift: The internal molded plastic lead frame houses the temperature thermistor. Thermal cycling causes cold solder fractures or thermistor drift, blinding the TCM to true fluid viscosity changes.
