Diagnosis & fix steps
Urea (DEF) Quality Sensor - Internal Component Failure.
LOGIC: The ultrasonic sensor inside the DEF tank is not communicating correctly with the DCU, or the internal "checksum" of the sensor's data is corrupted.
ACTION: 1. Check the 4-pin connector on top of the DEF tank header.
2. Verify 24V power and Ground to the sensor.
3. Check CAN-High and CAN-Low resistance (60 ohms).
FIX: Replace the DEF Tank Header/Quality Sensor Assembly and perform an "Emissions Trip Reset" via MPDr. software.

On many Hitachi excavators, this sensor is integrated into the suction tube assembly. If the sensor fails, you must replace the whole "Header" unit. Before buying the part, check the connector for "urea creep"—white salt buildup inside the plug that shorts out the CAN lines.
