Symptom
Engine "hunting" at idle; Sudden power drop; White smoke; Surging under load.
Diagnosis & fix steps
LOGIC: Fuel Pressure Control Valve (IMV/MPROP) current too high or low. The EEC3 controller cannot maintain stable rail pressure.
ACTION: 1. Check the 2-pin connector on the high-pressure pump.
2. Measure resistance of the solenoid (should be approx. 2-5 Ohms).
3. Check for fuel leaks at the return lines.
FIX: Replace the Fuel Volume Control Valve (IMV) or repair the harness pigtail.
Red Seal field insights
Scania V8s are sensitive to fuel quality. If this valve is sticking, check your primary filters for metal shavings; shavings indicate the high-pressure pump is "eating itself" and the valve is just the first symptom.
