LOGIC: Engine Crankshaft Speed Exceeded Maximum Governed Limit. ACTION: Download ECM freeze-frame and audit operational records. Check for mechanical transmission downshift errors (operator gear selection error) or unmetered oil carryover from a blown turbocharger seal entering the intake air tract.

Mechanical Valve Float: Engine overspeed is driven externally by drivetrain back-driving (missed downshift on a downgrade) or diesel engine runaway on crankcase oil/turbo blow-by. Over-revving causes valve float and valve-to-piston impact.
