Diagnosis & fix steps
Coolant Temperature Sensor - Voltage Low.
LOGIC: Signal < 0.5V (Short to Ground). The ECM interprets the low voltage as a maximum heat condition.
ACTION: 1. Unplug sensor; if code becomes P0118 (FMI 3), the sensor is shorted.
2. Check for harness rubs against the valve cover or lift eye.
FIX: Replace Coolant Temperature Sensor or repair signal wire shorted to engine block.
