Transmission shifts "hard"; Hunt for gears; Noisy operation.
Diagnosis & fix steps
Transmission Output Speed Sensor - Data Erratic.
LOGIC: The ECM sees the engine RPM increasing but the output speed "jumping" or dropping to zero instantly.
ACTION: 1. Remove the sensor from the tail-shaft.
2. Clean metal "fuzz" (debris) off the magnetic tip.
FIX: Clean sensor tip or replace the Output Speed Sensor.

Before you condemn the sensor, look at the tip. If it’s covered in metal "hair," it’s just blinded. However, that "hair" is a sign that your transmission clutches or bearings are wearing down. Clean it, but start planning for a trans-overhaul.
