Diagnosis & fix steps
Turbocharger Vane Position Sensor Performance.
LOGIC: The VGT actuator is telling the ECM it's in one spot, but the sensor says another.
ACTION: 1. Calibrate the VGT actuator using a scan tool.
2. Check for loose pins in the 4-pin turbo connector.
FIX: Replace VGT Actuator; perform VGT calibration.
Red Seal field insights
You cannot just "bolt on" a new VGT actuator. It must be aligned and calibrated with a scan tool (like AlphaOBD or Cummins Insite) or it will burn itself out in minutes.
