Engine "knocking" sound; Sudden shutdown; Rail pressure gauge (if equipped) pins high.

Diagnosis & fix steps

Fuel Rail Pressure Too High. LOGIC: The Suction Control Valve (SCV) is stuck or the ECM has lost control of the pressure regulation. ACTION: 1. Inspect the SCV on the back of the supply pump. 2. Check for "metal glitter" in the fuel filter (pump failure). FIX: Replace the Suction Control Valve (SCV); perform "Fuel Pump Init" in Techstream.
