Thermal Sensor
Symptom
Delayed Cold Shifts / Check Trans Message
Diagnosis & fix steps
LOGIC: Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit High Input.
ACTION: Disconnect the transmission main connector. Measure resistance across the internal temperature thermistor pins (spec: ~5kΩ to 100kΩ depending on ambient temp). If reading infinite resistance (open circuit), replace the internal sensor wiring sub-harness.
Red Seal field insights
Open Circuit Default: An open circuit drops voltage to the reference ceiling, leading the TCM to calculate -40°C. To protect cold components, the TCM restricts high-gear upshifts and disables torque converter lockup.
